Ahhh, to be a kid again...
I'm sitting here wondering how we as adults get everything so messed up. I watch my daughter, who is 17 monthes old, and she is the defenition of what I wish the world would be. She is so innocent, so smart, so loving. She doesn't see skin color as anything other than shades of a beautiful rainbow. She doesn't care what God you worship, how much money you have - or don't have. She just cares if you are going to get on the floor & play. That's all. Very simple. It's such a wonderful thing. It makes me sad to think of the day when she will realize her little world of equality is not the way the world really is. But you know what? I can protect her world fo as long as I can, & I can raise her the way my mother raised me, to care for the human race, to only judge people by their actions, not by color, religion, sexual prefrence or economic stature. She also gave me the gift of faith. Faith that I can make a difference. And I will pass that on to my own daughter. I wish I could feel what she feels, if only for a day. To be so innocent & completely unaware of the turbulence in the world. Just happy, joyous & free. Hmmmm...
